Kay Takes has over 25 years of C-suite experience in healthcare including coaching and supporting the development of executives, boards of trustees, physicians/providers and leaders at all levels.
Prior to launching Takes Leadership LLC, Kay was a market and divisional president for Trinity Health's MercyOne system in Iowa, leading thousands of staff members and stakeholders to sustained, highest level performance in serving communities in eastern Iowa and the tri-state area. Before her nine+ years as president, Kay was a vice president of patient care services and chief nursing officer for MercyOne. She also led a start-up occupational health clinic joint venture; had oversight for 18 primary care medical clinics in central Iowa; and was a business and operational leader and clinician in hospital peri-operative services. Kay has worked with multi-specialty medical groups, community employers and boards, health insurance companies, in advocacy, as an external consultant, and with critical access-to-large hospital systems, incorporating an expansive perspective and understanding of healthcare and business sectors of the economy.
Kay has worked with countless leaders who have gone on to become highly successful executives. She graduated from the University of Iowa with undergraduate and graduate degrees in nursing; and completed the Global Leadership in Healthcare Executive Training Program through Trinity Health and the University of Michigan Ross School of Business. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and board certified as a nurse executive by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Kay and her husband Mike happily reside in eastern Iowa.
